Manny De La Torre started his professional career by working as a project manager at an architectural firm where he was mentored by an internationally recognized architect and land planner who was in practice for over 40 years in Phoenix, Arizona. Dr. De La Torre worked on a diversity of projects ranging from designing single family homes, remodeling university campuses, planning new communities, and assisting with conceptual designs that were used in developing the city of Dubai. When the 2007 recession impacted the architectural, construction, and urban development industry, work stopped, projected ended, but Dr. De La Torre wanted to continue making a positive impact in society and volunteered to serve in the military in appreciation for the United States of America and the opportunities the American Dream has to offer. Dr. De La Torre served honorably in the United States Marine Corps where he worked in an elite school supporting student administration, human resource management for instructors, and overseeing the legal administration of staff. This high paced experience was highly valuable in the work he continued to do in higher education.
After Dr. De La Torre’s military service, he wanted to help leaders and organizations improve to be able to navigate through challenging changes such as the recession he experienced or the large-scale military downsizing of staff he was affected by. After receiving his doctorate in organizational leadership, Dr. De La Torre became a strategic business development consultant and supported many initiatives for change, value creation, and sustainable growth practices in small to global organizations. Dr. De La Torre has collaborated with entrepreneurs and leaders in different industries that include hospitality, food supply, manufacturing, entertainment, construction, and higher education. With his mentoring experience, Dr. De La Torre became passionate about teaching along with intentionally participating toward building a strong community of future leaders.”
