Claremont Lincoln University Hosts the 2017 Spotlight Gala
In the heart of Hollywood, Claremont Lincoln University held its annual Spotlight Gala at the Four Seasons Los Angeles at Beverly Hills on November 17, 2017. The Spotlight Gala is the culminating end-of-year celebration and fundraiser that highlights CLU and its efforts to create positive social change throughout the year. Supporters, community members, business leaders, faculty, staff, students, and alumni all gathered in support of the university’s mission.
“In this age of ideas and relationships, change is a driver. Generating ideas and building relationships takes new skills—ones that most universities don’t teach. You not only need to know what to do, you need to know how to do it. You need the skills of Claremont Lincoln,” Dr. Eileen Aranda, President of Claremont Lincoln University, stated in her welcoming address for the night’s festivities.
The fundraising efforts for the night were centered around supporting Claremont Lincoln’s global student community who are working to create a better world. Among each table were examples of students creating positive social change. One student had created a peer mentoring program in a local junior high school. Another student was striving to cultivate a culture of accountability among Bolivia’s up and coming law students.
The night also featured the Lincoln Awards, awards that recognize outstanding members in the community who are also working to create a better world through positive social change. The honorees for this year’s Lincoln Awards were: Celeste Alleyne, Director, US Citizenship & Public Affairs at Microsoft Corporation; Rep. Judy Chu, U.S. Congresswoman of the 27th District of California; David Eads, Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer at Pasadena Tournament of Roses; and Keith Drake, Senior Vice President & Regional Manager at Torrey Pines Bank.
Lastly, the night was filled with the musical stylings of IMAJ, a multi-talented singer-songwriter and humanitarian who also shares the same passion for positive social change. She was deemed a Millennial to Watch in 2017 by Dallas Weekly and is an Amazon Top 10 Bestselling Country Artist.
All of us at Claremont Lincoln University were delighted to come together with supporters of our mission for positive social change to recognize multiple individuals who share and enact the same vision. We would like to thank our sponsors, vendors, partners, honorees, board of directors, staff, faculty students, alumni, and community members for joining us for our annual gala event and for supporting Claremont Lincoln University.
You can continue to support and further our mission to drive positive social change by making a charitable donation on our website at any time.
