Dear CLU Community,
In solidarity with the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community, Claremont Lincoln University condemns acts of violence against the AAPI community and all forms of racism directed toward marginalized communities. The horrific acts that occurred in Georgia this week are not isolated events. We stand with the AAPI community and anyone who experiences senseless acts of injustice, hate, and violence that continue to fuel systemic oppression in our country and divide humanity.
CLU is committed to combating racism, xenophobia, and intolerance through education, advocacy, and ongoing collaboration. Our faculty, students, and alumni work every day to battle these opposing forces and to take action towards lasting change. As a socially conscious educational institution, we adhere to the belief that meaningful change begins when we seek to understand and celebrate the rich diversity of all ethnic, religious, and political backgrounds. CLU stands as a resource of empowerment, a focal point for collaboration, a haven for diversity. We truly believe that this is the only way for humanity to come together and more importantly, thrive as members of one world. Education should always work to empower the vulnerable and foster transformative learning. This is the work to which we remain committed.
We are here to listen and help you process the events perpetuating harm and trauma. If you are in need of support, I encourage you to reach out to Student Services (StudentServices@claremontlincoln.edu).
The Anti-Asian Violence Resources website is also an available resource to you in learning ways to support the AAPI community and actions you can take to end racism and discrimination against Asian Americans.
CLU stands with you in the commitment to foster an equitable, inclusive, and safe community for all.
